This system has two (2) components…a hand held remote controlled transmitter and a spray receiver collar. Batteries operate both [two (2) 6-volt batteries are included in the kit].
The #1 button triggers a tone which can be used to encourage a dog to repeat the desired behavior. This function will allow for training using ‘reward’ versus punishment. Initially, the tone will have no meaning to the dog. Only after repeatedly pairing the tone with a treat, praise, etc. will the dog become conditioned to find the tone ‘rewarding’. The tone can then be used to mark desired behaviors at a distance while the dog is engaged in the behavior. The concept is similar to that for clicker training.
To disrupt an unwanted behavior, press either the #2 button (which releases a short spray… approximately .5 seconds) or the #3 button (for a longer spray…nearly 1.5 seconds). It’s strongly recommended that the keypad not be pointed directly at the dog (it can be kept in a pocket or behind one’s back) so that the animal does not associate the spray with the operator.
How will this train a dog?
The spray should be triggered while a dog is engaged in an unwanted behavior. Through redirection to an acceptable behavior, followed immediately by a reward, the dog will learn to repeat the desired behavior. Timing of the stimulus…response…reward is the key to successful training. Seek the assistance of a professional in the event the dog does not respond as desired.
A dog will not understand that it is being sprayed for something it has stopped doing. It will associate the spray with whatever behavior it is engaged in at the time.
Each kit contains…a remote controlled transmitter (operates on a 900 MHz frequency); spray receiver (with ON/OFF switch); 24” adjustable nylon collar strap; 3 oz. (85g) can of stain-free, harmless scentless spray; two (2) 6-volt alkaline batteries; detailed Instruction Guide.
Yes. However, in order to train more than one dog in the same location it may be necessary to employ multiple frequencies. Each kit contains a remote controlled transmitter and spray receiver set to the same frequency. Remote and receiver are a matched pair with identical ID signatures. Located in the battery compartment, the ID begins with a single letter…‘T’ in the remote and ’R’ in the receiver. The ‘T’ or ‘R’ will be followed by three numbers…either 912 or 828…and the letters ‘ID’. The signature is completed by two characters, i.e., 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 0A, 0B, 0C, 0D, and 0E, designating the frequency. There are up 14 frequency matches. A matched ID signature will appear as T 912 ID 01 (remote) or R 912 ID 01 (receiver).
The use of multiple frequencies would require separate matched remote/receiver sets each with a different ID signature. If a customer has purchased more than one matched set and needs the flexibility provided by multiple frequencies Premier can swap out the unwanted set(s) at no charge. |
Yes, the new and improved spray receiver is now waterproof.
A full reservoir will deliver between 15 and 25 sprays.
No. The SprayCommander is unique and operates on a different radio signal.
Well over 200 sprays in each 3 oz. (85g) refill can. The actual number will vary depending on how often the longer spray (button #3) is used during training.
Not necessarily. If an owner finds that their dog is not responding to the spray, they should seek the help of a trainer or behaviorist.
The scentless solution has been found to be extremely safe. Its ozone-friendly propellant is the same inert product used in asthma pumps for humans.
It should be noted that the scentless solution is buffered to minimize any discomfort should it get into the eyes. However, as with any aerosol product, the spray should not be aimed directly into the eyes. The collar, being worn on the neck, should be directed at the snout. This puts it a safe distance from the dog’s eyes.
It is possible for dogs to become accustomed to the spray. When this occurs it is often the result of poor training techniques, i.e., the spray is either triggered too late or delivered inconsistently.
The device weighs just over 3 ozs. and is approximately 2.25” (h) x 1.5” (d) x 1.9” (w).
In most cases it is. It is recommended that before using the device on dogs under six (6) months and less than six (6) lbs. you first consult a veterinarian. In all cases the device should be removed immediately after the training session has ended.
This unit comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor for any defect, provided proper return policies are completed that are detailed in the package's Instruction Guide.
NOTE: Premier does not provide behavioral training and highly recommends the use of a local professional to assist with training needs. |
